Art Guide: Woven in Place

At the Indian Law Resource Center, advocacy takes many forms. Across Indigenous communities worldwide, not everyone has the same access to speak out against the injustices as loudly as others. However, every voice matters. We believe art is advocacy.

Woven in Place is rooted in this belief. Indigenous communities experience diverse and complex injustices, yet resilience, relationship, and stewardship to land remain constant. This collaborative weaving project brings together pieces from around the globe to honor the connection between land, body, safety, and community. It reflects the understanding that violence against land is inseparable from violence against Indigenous peoples.

This art guide is an invitation and a starting point. It offers a framework for your contribution while affirming that each piece carries its own story, place, and power. Together this collective statement is one of solidarity.

The final collective weaving will be displayed later this year. We will collect pieces until September 30, 2026. Additional details are in the art guide. We look forward to weaving this together with you.
